The questions everyone asks. Answered the way we'd want them answered.

About us and our materials

Are you affiliated with CSI, CIRO, FP Canada, CFA Institute, or the IAFP? No — and we say so everywhere, on purpose. We're an independent education provider. The issuers set the standards and award the credentials; we prepare you to meet them. Since 2026, Canada's regulator officially supports self-study and independent preparation, which is exactly the world we were built for.

Are your practice questions from real exams? Never. All 2,000 questions are original works written to our published standard. Using real exam content would violate every issuer's rules, endanger your credential, and tell you nothing our originals can't. We train you for the exam's style and depth without ever touching its content.

How do I know your materials are current? Every logistical claim — fees, formats, windows, prerequisites, transition deadlines — is verified against issuer sources for the current cycle and footnoted so you can check us. When issuers change something mid-cycle, we update, and enrolled members get the updates for their cycle.

Can I see the materials before buying? Yes — every program page offers a free sample with real guide pages and real explained questions. We'd rather convince you with the product than the copy.

Will you guarantee I pass? No, and we consider the refusal a feature. Pass marks are set psychometrically; no honest provider controls outcomes. We control preparation quality, and we stand behind it completely.

Choosing a path

I'm brand new. Where do I start? For the investment dealer channel: the CIRE, then the RSE if you want to advise. The old advice ("start with the CSC") stopped being true for this channel in January 2026 — though the CSC still matters for mutual fund channels and the CIM/PFP designation paths. Our new-entrant roadmap sorts you in five minutes.

CFP or PFP? The industry's most-asked question. Broad strokes: CFP for maximum market recognition and title protection; PFP for the bank-channel career with employer support. The full comparison is in the Master Strategy Document — and both program pages link to it, because we'd rather you choose correctly than choose us twice.

CIM or CFA to become a Portfolio Manager? Both are named routes to CIRO PM approval. The CIM is faster and Canada-focused; the CFA is longer, deeper, and global. Depends on whether your destination is the advisory channel or the institutional one. We map both honestly.

Do the 2026 rule changes affect my existing registration? If you were approved before January 1, 2026 and stay in the same role, grandfathering generally protects you — but with hard edges (the 180-day rule, the Conduct Training deadline of December 31, 2026, and the old-course completion deadlines). Our guides cover the transition rules in detail, because this is exactly the place where folklore gets people hurt.

Community and cohorts

What's the difference between the forum and a cohort? The forum is the always-open discussion for everyone in a program. A cohort is your exam-window class — a smaller group writing the same paper around the same date, following a shared pacing plan, exchanging practice answers. Forum for answers; cohort for accountability.

I'm a senior professional. Is the community going to feel junior to me? The Tier 2 rooms (CIWM, FCSI, RFP) are small and senior by construction — practicing professionals, practice-level conversation. Several members have told us the room outvalued the materials. We take that as the compliment it is.

Can I stay after I pass? Please do. Our best forum answers come from alumni who remember exactly which week of the journey nearly got them.

Practical

How long will my preparation take? Honest ranges, credential by credential, are in each guide — from a few focused weeks for a regulatory exam to multi-year designation roads. Every program includes a study plan matched to its real demands, not a marketing-friendly minimum.

What if I fail anyway? First: it happens to prepared people, and it isn't the end — every exam here allows retakes under defined rules, which our guides spell out. Come back to your cohort, run the diagnostic honestly, and target the gap. A meaningful share of the best advisors in this country passed something on the second attempt. The credential doesn't remember; nobody's letters have an asterisk.
